Can I travel in my own wheelchair?
Yes, of course! You can use your own manual or electric wheelchair. However, the wheelchair must be less than 31” wide. Our vehicles meet the ADA requirements for non-emergency medical transports. If needed, we also provide a standardized wheelchair upon request for a $20 fee and a $30 fee for extra large wheelchair rental.
Do you allow for attendants? If so, is there an additional charge?
Yes, absolutely! OTS allows for an attendant to ride with you for no additional charge! One additional person beyond the attendant is $10 each way. Please be sure to provide this information to the representative or on the online form at the time of booking.
When will I incur additional charges?
To ensure every client receives the utmost respect and consideration, we kindly request your cooperation with punctuality. Delays can impact subsequent clients’ appointments. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we appreciate your understanding.
However, if our driver experiences a wait exceeding five minutes during pickup, a $15 charge will apply at the 7th minute, subject to management discretion and schedule constraints. The driver will be directed to remain or wait for the member.
How much advanced notice do I need to provide before booking a transport ?
To ensure the timely and safe completion of each transport, we strive to meet every client’s needs. Therefore, we request a minimum of 72 hours/3 business days advance notice for scheduling. This policy also extends to ride cancellations; if unable to provide 48 hours’ notice, please inform OTS as soon as possible.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Currently, we accept all major credit and debit cards. The payments are due on the date prior to transportation unless other arrangements have been made in advance. If you have coverage through your insurance for NEMT services, please contact your carrier so that they can set up your transportation with OTS.
Where are you located, what are your hours of operation and how much do you charge?
Optimal Transportation Solutions is located in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago, in Plainfield, IL. Hours of operation for OTS are Monday-Friday from 6am-6pm with limited availability on Saturdays. Our professional and courteous representatives can be reached between those operating hours.
Rates vary depending on the type of transportation needed, the distance traveled and the necessity of return trips. The first 2 miles incur no charge; however, it’s advisable to consult with a representative to tailor the service to your individual requirements.
